Here are a bunch of good things to read up or use for mission editing:
ArmA Edit - Great for making simple briefings and other mission editing that's done outside of the in-game editor. You can create links easily in briefings to map markers. There's a crate editor that's handy for setting up a kit selection at briefing. It has all the commands available but no explanation of what each command does.
Scripting Commands - The ArmA Wiki is generally a good resource to have while editing. It briefly explains what each command does and sometimes has an example or notes on the command.
Johan Gustafsson's Scripting Tutorial - This is a large PDF on how to do fairly common things in missions like objectives, patrols, air insertions, etc. It has a little bit that's helpful for beginner scripters.
